Writing

In the first grade, we strongly focus on three of the 6+1 writing traits:  ideas, conventions, and organization. When a student(s) have those three traits down, we turn our focus to word choice.

What are the traits?

Ideas - the heart of the message

Conventions -the mechanical correctness

Organization - the internal structure of the piece

Word Choice - the vocabulary a writer chooses to convey meaning
